What happened at the Workshop?

The CSAE are delighted to be hosting the Economic Development in African workshop in collaboration with the Department of Economics at Addis Ababa University in December 2019.

The workshop is an opportunity for all funded participants of the CSAE Conference 2020: Economic Development in Africa to present their papers to colleagues from the University of Addis Ababa, and the University of Oxford, and receive training and valuable feedback in preparation for the conference in March 2020.

PUBLIC LECTURE by Professor Stefan Dercon, University of Oxford

The recent Nobel Prizes in Economics, and what do they mean for Ethiopia and other African countries”?

The Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded this year to Esther Duflo, Abhijit Banerjee and Michael Kremer. The citation referred to their contributions to development, more specifically in promoting methodologies using Randomized Controlled Trials in the analysis of the impact of interventions in development. Professor Stefan Dercon of Oxford University discussed their contribution.
